Aurora

With this app we wanted to provide more information about polar lights, a unique natural phenomenon. Many people don’t know how they work, hence we wanted to show how easy it is to understand the formation of polar lights. Furthermore we wanted to make science and physics enjoyable for different age groups. Aurora was ment to be designed for exhibition purposes.

The Concept

With Aurora you can learn about multiple aspects of the phenomenon. You are able build your own lights and playfully understand the basics in the "Modification" part. In the chapter "Occurence" you get to know where and when polar lights occur. The "Learning" chapter is dedicated to the people who are interested in the science aspect while "Myths" is for people interested in the historic lore.

The Design

Colorful illustrations are meant to show this dreamlike phenomenon and convey a mythical feeling.
The illustrations are kept simple, making them easy to understand for all age groups and working together with the scientific aspects of the application.

By utilizing the touch screen the user can explore the application on his own.
